The full mod 30.5cc has proven to be one of the most popular engines we build. This is a great way to upgrade to a full mod 4 bolt engine and save some cash. To complete this long block you will need a flywheel, coil, covers, carb and clutch. All of thse items can be removed from your stock engine. Our long blocks come with a complete 4 bolt Zenoah crankcase with bearings, seals, 2mm stroker crank and full mod top end. All long blocks come assembled as shown in the picture.
With the higher reliability of the 4 bolt Zenoah engines we were able to achieve more power with out sacrificing reliability. We put all of the knowledge that we have picked up from years of dyno and field testing and came up with a monster.
The following porting and machined has been performed to this long block:
1. Machine combustion chamber for a proper squish clearance without stacking cylinder gaskets
2. Reshape piston
3. Lighten piston
4. Relieve piston to prevent seizes
5. Modify intake port for better flow
6. Adjust intake duration to our specs
7. Resurface all ports
8. Modify transfer ports for better flow
9. Enlarge and reshape exhaust port
10. Adjust exhaust duration to our specs
11. Re-bevel all porting and stock bevels to prevent damage to the piston and/or cylinder

We are now offering two versions of our reed engine. The original is the long rod which is now our high rev version. The new high torque version comes with a non-long rod crank. The high torque version is optimal for 4WD's, heavy cars etc.
We are extremely proud to release the TR/OBR 4 bolt reed case. To start, we would like to thank Dave at Turtle Racing and Yamadude for all of their hard work that it took to make this happen! Dave has spent countless hours and late nights designing the many prototypes that we went through making these cases to perfection.

This is not a knock off or slight redesign of any current reed engine. Though there are only so many things that could be changed while still being able to fit into our 1/5th scale cars, there is a lot more that has gone into these cases than most will realize. Yamadude stepped in to assist and was a huge help with design and flow bench testing. Many prototypes had to be made to achieve the ideal intake track for the best possible flow.
Between the help of Dave and Yamadude, that gave us the tools we needed to give you all more power! For those of you not familiar with our history we are coming up on our 10th year in business. We take a lot of pride in every engine that ships out of the OBR warehouse and we feel this one really reflects what we are capable of building. The development of this case took several months, a lot of labor, testing on our dyno, in-car testing and we could not be more pleased with the final product. We have seen horsepower and torque numbers we never thought possible out of engines this size. We are seeing quite a bit more torque and rpm’s as good, if not better than, our piston port long rod engines.
These cases are designed to be used exclusively with a +3mm long rod crankshaft and may not be used with a non long rod crankshaft. In able to offer you a better product, we’ve chosen to not use a crankcase gasket. This allows for tighter tolerances and higher reliability when a good sealant such as Yamabond is used. The deck height has been raised 3mm to prevent the need of a cylinder spacer. One standard gasket is all that is necessary.
As an option, you may choose to add a TR/OBR sealed clutch housing. When choosing this option, we will install three open crankcase bearings into your reed case. This option also allows for a direct fitment into any HPI Baja or Losi 5-ive T.
One of our favorite features is the three piece case design. Over our many years with large scale rc cars, we’ve seen our fair share of cracked crankcases. The TR/OBR reed case has a replaceable fan cover mount incase you ever crack or break it. This is a much cheaper alternative to replacing the whole or half case.
To top everything off, we’ve chosen Boyesen reed petals. We’ve also kept in mind that there’s more than just HPI’s out there. This reed case will fit any HPI Baja, Losi 5-ive T, MCD’s, FG’s and most other large scale rc cars.
We at OBR feel the 30.5cc reed case is one of the best-balanced engines we have ever engineered. We’ve seen a lot more torque than we’ve seen out of an engine this size while still reving over 20,000 rpms. We expect to have more options in the future, but this one is going to be hard to top. Fully ported with all of the bells and whistles your used to from our fully modified engines.
Tech note: Just about any CY/Zenoah, 2 or 4 bolt engine can be used to complete this long block. If you are not sure feel free to contact any of our staff for assistance.

Our newest line of methanol/nitrous oxide reeds are now available. You have the option of choosing fuel (gas/methanol) and adding nitrous oxide. We've built a lot of fast engines over the years and this line is hands down faster than anything we've ever built.
Being full mods these engines will be fully ported just like our normal reed engines but modified to withstand methanol and nitrous oxide. There is going to be pro's and con's to running methanol. Methanol produces quite a bit more power than gas and from our testing runs about 80 degrees cooler. The big con to methanol is that the engine needs to be purged at the end of running for the day. This requires that you dump the methanol in your tank and run gas through the engine for a couple of minutes. A special shreadstack has been designed to make this as easy as possible and to allow a gas carb to be run on methanol. This stack is included when choosing the methanol version and makes running this fuel a breeze. We've perfected these engines to the point that they are easy to start, tune and purge.
Our last option for this engine is nitrous oxide. We offer the option of having the engine modified to withstand nitrous oxide. From our extensive testing with nitrous oxide we've found modifications that greatly reduce the chance of engine failure while using nitrous oxide. Each nitrous oxide engine will come with detailed instruction on how to use nitrous oxide. There are certain rpm's etc. that will make nitrous oxide shine and not be as hard on the engine.
This engine comes with a limited warranty. Using nitrous oxide at the wrong rpm's, too much etc will cause short engine life and will not be covered by us.

1722 - 5hp CNC Ported PROSTOCK 29.5cc 4 Bolt Long Block - Billet Crankcase

PROSTOCK - An affordable/mild version of a full mod. The PROSTOCK's are rated at 5-5.5hp, full mod's 6-6.5hp, and full mod long rods 7-7.5hp.
The PROSTOCK line has replaced the Race Ported line. The PROSTOCK engines produce more power than the race ports and are more economical.
To keep costs down, we focused our time tuning this engine to the areas that would yield the most power possible while maintaining reliability and ease of use. At OBR, we do not believe in stacking or using thick cylinder gaskets. We always machine and reshape the combustion chamber on our stroked engines. To help with reliability, we also relieve the piston. Piston reliefs help reduce the chances of the piston seizing on the exhaust side of the cylinder when running lean or hot. We were the first in this industry to do the piston relief several years ago.
Being that this line is a budget/starter engine, we tuned it to run well with any exhaust. We kept in mind that you may not have a pipe. We have seen great performance with everything from an HPI can exhaust to a pipe. If upgrading to a pipe, we recommend the Jetpro Boss. For those of you that are new to ported engines, we shot for ease of use. This engine is very easy to start and to tune the carb.
We have left the porting open on this engine. At any time, you may send the engine in to us to be upgraded to a full mod or a full mod long rod.

From there the cylinder and piston are aggresively modified but not to the point where reliability and ease of use is lost. Reliability and ease of use is always our first objective when we tune an engine. Every port in the cylinder has been professionaly modified and the piston has been lightened and relieved.

The Yuji Edition G240RC is built to be very smooth and high reving for track use. This engine fits: Contrast, FG, RS5, Harm, etc. This engine comes with a standard Zenoah crankcase unless billet is requested. Our billet case does not fit some on-road cars. Contact us if you are not sure which crankcase will be compatible with your car.

1808 - OBR Power Stack / Velocity Stack (Aluminum & Delrin )
Regular price $49.99Billet delrin version is now available and is half the weight of the aluminum version. OBR power stack is compatible with most aftermarket clamp on air filters. This is a bolt on performance item that will improve power on any engine that's stock or fully modified. We spent several months developing this stack on our in-house flow bench and dyno. We've seen more power out of this design than any other stack that we have tested. Dyno graph can be found in the images. Tapered bore increases velocity through the intake tract and gives better consistency. The clamping surface has barbs to prevent the air filters from falling off under hard running. There is no boss on this stack which allows the air filter to be pushed closer to the carb for cars that have minimal air filter clearance.
